The Industrial Revolution – The Rise of Banded / Industrial Style Glass Partitions in Modern Interiors

Industrial Glass Partitions Installed Nationwide – Banded Style Glass Partitions from Clear Divide.

Over the last two to three years, industrial style banded glazing has taken the design world by storm. What began as a niche feature in trendy commercial spaces has now become a mainstream architectural choice in offices, homes, and hospitality environments across the UK.

Driven by a desire for open plan layouts that still allow for privacy and acoustic control, this style of glass partition delivers the perfect balance between functionality and aesthetics. The defining characteristic of banded glazing is the use of face applied aluminium or steel bars that create a striking grid like design, reminiscent of early 20th-century industrial windows.

Banded Glazing Charm with a Contemporary Twist

At Clear Divide Glass Partitions, our industrial aluminium banded systems combine the slimline benefits of frameless glazing with the visual appeal of steel style frames. Unlike traditional banded windows that are fully welded steel, our aluminium system uses face applied aluminium bars, making it a more cost effective alternative without sacrificing the industrial aesthetic. Available in both non-fire-rated and fire-rated.

Popular in meeting rooms, commercial offices, break out spaces, home offices, and even residential extensions, banded glazing adds:

• Strong visual identity

• Defined zones without losing natural light

• A modern take on heritage design

This type of glazing has proven especially effective in interior architecture where character, contrast, and clean lines are paramount.

The Rise of Reeded Film Manifestation

In the last 18 to 24 months, another design element has surged in popularity within industrial glazing: reeded film manifestation. Originally used as a privacy measure, reeded (or fluted) film has become a design statement in its own right.

Applied to glass partitions or glass doors, this translucent vertical ribbed film provides subtle privacy while allowing light to flow freely through the space. It also complements both contemporary and vintage inspired interiors.

Why is reeded film so popular?

• It’s a budget friendly alternative to actual reeded glass

• Offers privacy without blocking light

• Adds texture and sophistication to glass walls and doors

When paired with industrial banded glazing, reeded film adds an extra layer of style and functionality, the perfect fusion of old school design and modern minimalism.
